About the Partnership
Intersectional Environmentalist (IE), in partnership with The Eyes & Ears Agency, launched the second Earth Sessions from a series of intimate community-driven environmental justice concerts. These events combine art and activism in order to hold space and create accessible, joyful, and educational moments for people with intersecting identities to find community and learn about climate justice.
Earth Sessions LA took place on July 17, 2022 at the Audubon Center at Debs Park, the country’s first platinum LEED certified building in Highland Park. The event featured engaging conversations on the intersecions between identity, art, and activism, held between founding members of IE, Leah Thomas and Kiana Kazemi, and local artist-activists, Xiuhtezcatl and Bedouine. The event also featured intimate and moving performances by Xiuhtezcatl and Bedouine, a virtual poetry reading from Afro-Indigenous and Afro-Latino activist, Vic Barrett, as well as a book activation in partnership with Rep Club, California's premiere queer Black-woman owned bookshop.
IE and The Eyes & Ears Agency extend a massive thank you to Teva and The Center for Cultural Power for supporting IE’s programmatic vision and helping bring Earth Sessions LA to life.
